A severe storm across Austin late Friday has caused the cancellation of the Wolfmother and Coheed and Cambria outdoor performance at Lady Bird Lake.
The free outdoor show at Lady Bird Lake is open to everyone in Austin, regardless of SXSW registration. The outdoor events pull in over 10,000 fans.
SXSW issued the severe weather warning late Friday afternoon and by 7.15pm was advising people to “seek shelter now”. The weather was due stay bad until later in the evening forcing multiple cancellations of postponements across the festival.
Shows at Stubbs featuring DMAs and later Charli XCX and Santigold were postponed. The set-time for Flo Rida at the McGarrah Jessee Rooftop was changed, Cedar Street Courtyard events were rescheduled and shows for The Belmont, The Main and Maggie Mae’s Rooftop stayed on time.
Saturday’s weather should clear to a cloudy and cold day with no scheduling interruptions.
