After picking up awards on Thursday night at The Age Music Victoria awards Victorian acts have taken out three quarters of the J Awards announced in Sydney today.
A.B. Original, Client Liaison and Jen Cloher, all major winners of The Age Music Victoria Awards less than 24 hours ago have added J Awards trophies to their mantelpieces as well.
A.B. Original has won Album of the Year for Reclaim Australia, Jen Cloher has taken home Double J Artist of the Year and Client Liaison has won Music Video of the Year for ‘A Foreign Affair’.
The only other award, Unearthed Artist of the Year, went to Perth’s Stella Donnelly.
triple j Music Director, Nick Findlay, says of the album: “Every year we are lucky enough to experience a swathe of incredible Australian records, but the last 12 months in particular has seen some of the finest local releases in years. Despite this, it’s hard to look past the raw, confronting and empowering energy that Briggs and Trials have mastered on Reclaim Australia; it’s impact has been long-standing, incredibly significant and long overdue.”
