The recent two-week campaign by Music Victoria to increase membership has resulted in 100% success.
Since the campaign began two weeks ago Music Victoria added 300 new members including Kylie Minogue, Paul Kelly and the members of The Temper Trap.
“We’ve been really blown away by the support we’ve received from the industry and community. Victorians love their music, they have always got behind their passion, because they know it is unique and is supported by a fragile eco system. The artists who have performed tonight are a tremendous example of our wonderfully talented and diverse music scene,’’ CEO Patrick Donovan said in a statement.
The members of Music Victoria celebrated last night with a wrap up party and entertainment from some of the State of Victoria’s finest musicians Dan Sultan, Brous, Graveyard Train and Courtney Barnett.
Funds raised from the campaign will assist Music Victoria to help provide regular professional development sessions all over the state as well as important research on working entitlements for artists, under age gigs, access to Centrelink and industry internships. It will also continue to advocate on vital issues such as minimum radio quotas, parking permits for musicians, and the all important Agent of Change issue to protect existing venues against encroaching development.
