My Friend The Chocolate Cake Play Their Last Ever Melbourne Show

David Bridie is right about one thing. Matthew Guy should never be elected. But I digress. My Friend The Chocolate Cake have given their last ever Melbourne show.

My Friend The Chocolate Cake released seven albums across their 28-year lifespan and pieced together a setlist spanning their career for the final hometown gig.

The Melbourne Recital Centre was also the venue of choice for the launch of the recent album ‘The Revival Meeting’. One year one, they were back in the same venue for The Winter Revival tour farewell.

David gave a few insights into the history of the band. He mentioned similarities to his ‘Everything We Need’ and Rick Springfield’s ‘Jessie’s Girl’ (and actually it does sound a bit like Rick).

My Friend The Chocolate Cake have left an incredible legacy with their contribution to Australia’s Chamber Pop. The combination of talents over years from the original members David Bridie, Helen Mountfort, Hope Csutoros and Andrew Richardson has helped My Friend The Chocolate Cake into one of Australia’s most unique operations. Their break-up will leave a hole in live Australian performance.
