TMZ is reporting that Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines has filed for divorce from her husband of seventeen years, actor Adrian Pasdar. She has cited irreconcilable differences.
Maines and Pasdar met at the wedding of fellow Dixie Chick Emily Strayer in May of 1999 and married on June 24, 2000 at the A Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. They have two sons, Jackson (aka Slade), born in 2001, and Beckett, born in 2004. It was Maines’ second marriage.
A rep for Maines has said that this is a “private family matter” and has refused to comment further. Reports say that she is filing for joint custody.
Maines is the daughter of producer Lloyd Maines. She joined the Dixie Chicks in 1995 at the beginning of their meteoric rise in country music. After three smash albums (Wide Open Spaces, Fly, Home), the group became embroiled in controversy after Natalie made a comment during a concert against than president George Bush. Their next and, to date, last album, Taking the Long Way (2006) defied the backlash, going to number 1 on both the Country and Pop charts and won the Grammy for Album of the Year.
