National SLAM (Save Live Australia’s Music – no that is not a typo, yes it is stupid, deal with it) day is coming up in February so we’re giving you plenty of time to psych yourself up for some great local live music.
The day is there to commemorate the enormous SLAM rally that saw tens of thousands of people take to the streets to lend support to the “high risk” liquor licenses that were imposed on many live music venues simply because they had “entertainment” and were open late.
Venues interested in participating should register which you can do so at www.slamrally.org. You don’t have to be a pub, you can be a town hall, a school, some kid organising their friend’s band to play in a park or anything you can dream up, as long as there is a band playing.
The organisers have said that New South Wales and Western Australia are currently leading the registrations so Victoria, you’re supposedly the musical capital of Australia. Get your act together!
Head to www.slamrally.org for more information and a list of gigs (closer to the date) that you should get your arse to.
By the way, you know what is a great way to psych yourself up for some great live music? Going to check out some great live music.
