Scottish rock band Nazareth have cancelled all upcoming shows after singer Dan McCafferty suffered a stroke on stage during the band’s performance in Switzerland last Friday.
For the second time in two months, McCafferty was forced to leave the stage due to breathing difficulties.
The first incident happened July 9 in Cranbrook, Canada when McCafferty complained of breathing difficulties, causing the show to be delayed by 1-1/2 hours. He then collapsed to the stage thirty seconds into the first song.
Last Friday, Nazareth was playing at the Summerdays Festival in Switzerland when he again had breathing difficulties. The seriousness of the situation was confirmed in the Swiss paper Gazet Van Antwerpen where the organizer of the Vostertfeesten Festival, Xavier Weijtens, said that McCafferty was in a hospital after suffering a stroke and the band was cancelling their appearance.
It also appears that all future dates by Nazareth have been cancelled as the Gigs page on their website now leads to a “page cannot be found” message. There is no other mention of the incident or the dates on the site.
