Neal worked with Ryan Adams as a member of The Cardinals and Chris Robinson as one of The Brotherhood as well as with Willie Nelson and Shooter Jennings.
Neal released his debut solo album ‘Fade Away Diamond Time’ in 1995. He released 12 solo album until 2011’s ‘Sweeten the Distance’. With Ryan Adams he made five albums as a member of The Cardinals and 12 albums with Chris Robinson’s Brotherhood, most recently 2019’s ‘Servants of the Sun’.
In a statement on Neal’s Twitter it reads, “It’s with great sadness that we tell you Neal Casal has passed. As so many know, Neal was a gentle, soulful human who lived life through artistry and kindness. His family, friends and fans will always remember the light that he brought to the world. Rest easy Neal, we love you”.

Shooter Jennings tweeted, “I am absolutely devastated with the news of the loss of my dear friend and consistent collaborator @nealcasal – he was always my favorite picker in LA and we’d all just finished some beautiful music together”.

Neal Casal has also played on albums by James Iha, Gin Wigmore, Tift Merritt, Fountains of Wayne, Duncan Sheik and Blackfoot.
Neal’s cause of death has not been revealed.
