Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain Feud Splits Journey

Journey is splitting before fans eyes on social media.

In his latest post today co-founder Neal Schon fired a blunt statement about the situation with Jonathan Cain.

Jon Cain is trying in press to removing my name from songs I wrote
Don’t Stop Believin with Perry and Cain
Well
I am removing him from my life
No dark funk energy and using Journey to sell his personal gain and take from poor
People

Journey remains

Our souls are free in that

Earlier this week Schon posted a not so direct jab at Cain. “Bringing it every night I want to be elevated by whom I play with not feel like I’ve got cement shoes. If anyone is unhappy they are Not running My band then They should Leave,” he wrote. “God has bigger plans.”

Cain’s wife Paula White is a Pentecostal Christian televangelist.

Schon suggested a name change for the band. “I’ve had to fight this whole time to protect the Brand I built with Steve Perry way before Gregg and I picked Cain to replace himself when he wanted to retire from the road back then,” he said. “Well frankly I’m tired of having to defend all by my self. Ross is no help. I continue to grow and be completely creative and want to take the band Neal Schon’s JRNY on an exciting new trip musically.”

Journey was formed in San Francisco in 1973 with lead singer Steve Perry, guitarist Neal Schon, keyboardists Jonathan Cain and Gregg Rolie, bassist Ross Valory, and drummers Aynsley Dunbar and Steve Smith

The band took hiatus between 1987 and 1995. At that point Cain wrote two songs for Jimmy Barnes’ ‘Working Class Man’ album including the title track.

The current line-up of Journey still includes Schon and Cain with co-founders Ross Valory and Steve Smith and new singer Arnel Pineda (since 2007).
