Neil and Pegi Young may have split as a couple but are still collaborators on the 29th Bridge School Benefit.
Pegi started the Bridge School in 1987 for children with severe physical and speech impairments and, to help fund the new effort, the couple held a benefit concert on October 13, 1986 with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Nils Lofgren, Don Henley, Tom Petty, Robin Williams, Bruce Springsteen and Young.
A single night affair, the benefit expanded to two nights starting with the tenth show in 1996 and has remained that way ever since. Over the years, dozens of major stars have appeared on the stage to benefit the school including last year’s lineup which included Pearl Jam, Brian Wilson, Florence + the Machine, Tom Jones, Soundgarden, Norah Jones and both Youngs.
This year’s benefit, which is set for October 24 and 25 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA, will include:
Neil Young & Promise of the Real
Dixie Chicks
Sheryl Crow
Ryan Adams
St. Vincent
Gary Clark, Jr.
Spoon
