Neil Young Says NRA Wench Should Shoot Him

by Roger Wink, VVN Music on March 16, 2018

Sometime in the last month, Dana Loesch has become the wench of the NRA.

Oh, she’s had the position of spokesperson for some time but it was only since the Parkland shootings that she has seemed to be everywhere from CNN’s town hall to multiple other news sources.

She’s also spent a LOT of time on Twitter, occassionally complaining about Neil Young. As a matter of fact, that hatred has dated all the way back to the beginning of the decade:

Geebus I loathe Neil Young. His voice sounds like a bloated cow farting and dying all at once.

Wait, Canada also gave us Neil Young. That dying cow attempt at harmony you hear on Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young? It’s Young.

Had I won the Powerball I was going to pay Nickelback, Bush, and Neil Young to stop playing.

My stepdad likes Neil Young. I always thought Neil Young had the vocal tonality of a dying cow fart. He’s also hard of hearing. My stepdad.

My first exposure to Neil Young was in high school when he released Mirror Ball, with the dumbest track ever, “Downtown.”

Once, as a teenager & in a cast on my sofa watching TV, Neil Young’s “Downtown” came on MTV. I couldn’t change channel and cried quietly.

Of course, Young is not one to back down in the face of criticism but some is just to surreal to take that seriously. He recently talked to the Daily Beast, first questioning who Loesch was. “The spokesperson? That woman? She doesn’t like me? Well, she’s one of the gang over there. Although Trump likes my music. He’d come to all my shows. What’s her name, huh? Well, I’m glad I got under her skin.”

The site then showed Young a few examples of Loesch’s tweet, saying “Why doesn’t she just shoot me? … You know, I hate to say that because I have kids and I really don’t want anybody to shoot me. I’ve still got to bring up my kids, so don’t take that seriously!”

Neil Young is currently in Austin at SXSW promoting his film Paradox which was directed by Daryl Hannah. The movie premiers on Netflix on March 23.
