Neil Young To Start Charging For The Neil Young Archives

by Paul Cashmere on May 14, 2018

in News

Neil Young will start charging at monthly or annual subscription for his online archive from June 1.

Young calls the destination NYA.

To date, the archive housing every Neil Young recording, has been free of charge.

As of June 1 the archive will be $1.99 a month or $19.99 or roughly the price of an album per year.

Neil Young originally intended to create box sets of his Archives. The first, ‘Neil Young Archives Vol. 1 1963-1972’ was originally planned to be the start of a series of boxes. It was released in June 2009.

The box set Archives was released in three formats – CD, DVD and Blu-Ray.

Originally five boxes were intended in the physical disc series. Neil’s manager Elliott Roberts told Noise11 in 2009 that a second box was already in the planning stages. Nine years on there is no sign of it. When I asked Elliott when the series would catch up to the current album he smiled and said “not in our lifetime”.
