Neil Young’s vinyl box set planned for release for Record Store Day has been delayed.
Young is working on his digital music player Pono as well as the new album ‘A Letter Home’ as well as a new book and feels he has too many projects happening right now to release the box set.
A statement from his record label reads:
Neil Young and Warner Bros. Records have announced that they must delay the release of Young’s upcoming Neil Young Official Series 2 Vinyl Box Set, which was intended to come out on Record Store Day, due to several other projects that Young has in the works that he wishes to focus on. A November release date for the set, which includes the classic albums Time Fades Away, On The Beach, Tonight’s The Night and Zuma, will be announced soon. Rest assured, it will be worth the wait!
Young gave an investor presentation for Pono at the SXSW music conference in Austin, Tx last week. With a target of $800,000 so far $4,267,049 has been pledged by 12,665 fans with 26 days of the fund raising to go.
Neil’s next album ‘A Letter Home’ will be released through Jack White’s Third Man Records. Young says it was recorded using “ancient electro-mechanical technology’. An official release date for the album is yet to be announced.
His next book will focus on his love of cars. Neil Young’s autobiography ‘Waging Heavy Peace’ was released in 2012.
Record Store Day will be held across Australia on April 19. Check here for events.
