Jeff Magnum, from indie icons Neutral Milk Hotel, has done a solo acoustic set for the Wall Street protesters.
Pitchfork reports that Magnum did a little bit of Dylan-channelling by performing raw acoustic songs in a 35-minute set, emphasising the occasional protest elements.
He set up in New York City’s Zuccotti Park, where the protesters have made their basecamp.
He performed Neutral Milk Hotel songs ‘Song Against Sex’ from On Avery Island and ‘Holland, 1945’, ‘Ghost’, ‘Two-Headed Boy Part 2’, ‘In the Aeroplane Over the Sea’, ‘The King of Carrot Flowers Part 1’ and ‘Oh Comely’ from the band’s landmark 1998 album In An Aeroplane Over The Sea, as well as a cover of the Minutemen’s ‘Themselves’.
Video shot by the singing onlookers shows Magnum cheering on the protestors by saying, “You guys have done a beautiful fucking thing.”
