Britney Spears’ latest single is reportedly delayed due to problems with the singer’s voice.
Plans to release the 34-year-old singer’s new track Make Me (Oooh) were postponed last month (May16), due to “technical production difficulties” with no new date announced.
And according to editors at British newspaper The Sun, the lack of new Britney material is reportedly because record company bosses are unhappy with the Baby One More Time musician’s vocal work on the song.
“The single has been a nightmare for everybody involved,” a source tells the paper. “When it came down to the final version of the track, the label just didn’t like her voice and the producers were struggling to make it work with the recordings they had.”
The publication reports producers and executives have allegedly held emergency meetings with a view to transforming the track so it is ready for release.
“They’ve tried to find someone to add some guest vocals to strengthen the track instead of finding time in Britney’s schedule to re-record – but they’ve really struggled,” the insider adds. “It’s been very stressful, the track should have been out a long time ago now.”
Make Me (Oooh) is scheduled to be the lead single from her ninth studio album, the release date of which is also yet to be announced.
In May (16), Joe Riccitelli, the Executive Vice President of Britney’s record label RCA Records told America’s Billboard magazine he was, “waiting for her to finish the album,” and was “really excited” about the record.
