The new David Bowie statue in Aylesbury, UK, has been vandalised just two days after it was unveiled.

The words “feed the homeless” and “RIP DB” were fronted around and in front of the statue within 48 hours of its dedication.

The David Bowie statue sits in Aylesbury Market Square which is immortalised in the opening lyrics to Bowie’s ‘Five Years’. The song is from Bowie’s classic ‘Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars’. Bowie first performed the Ziggy persona in Aylesbury at Friars in July 1972.

Marillion singer Steve Hogarth unveiled the David Bowie statue on 25 March.

The statue was funded through grants and a £100,000 crowd funding campaign.
