The new George Michael song happens to be nearly 30 years old. ‘Fantasy’ popped up around the world today (7 September) but it turns out it was recorded in the late 1980s.
Even George had an early version of the song on his official YouTube channel.

The “new” in this “new” version is that it was remixed by Nile Rodgers in 2016 for a planned reissue of ‘Listen Without Prejudice Vol 1’. Nile took the Spanish flavoured original version and gave it a more upbeat dance mix.
Rodgers was recruited by George Michael to give ‘Fantasy’ the Nile treatment for the reissue project. ‘Fantasy’ was originally recorded for what was planned to be a sequel to ‘Listen Without Prejudice Vol 1” but the project was shelved.
George was working on the release of the deluxe edition of ‘Listen Without Prejudice’, including ‘Fantasy’ and other tracks destined for the aborted Vol 2 at the time of his death. The project was postponed until now.
On October 20th, 2017, Sony Music Entertainment will be releasing Listen Without Prejudice/MTV Unplugged, the reissue of George Michael’s iconic album, Listen Without Prejudice Vol.1.
