On Sunday, Mariah Carey released her new single, Infinity, to the world and set off the endless speculation on whether the song is about her husband Nick Cannon.
The bigger question is whether the song will catch the public’s ear and return Carey to the upper echelon of the music world. The singer released four songs from her last album, Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse with only two of the four even making the charts. Of those two, #Beautiful (featuring Miguel) went to number 15 and was certified platinum while You’re Mine (Eternal) only hit number 88.
Infinity is the only new song on Carey’s first album on her new contract with Epic/Columbia/Legacy, #1 to Infinity. The rest of the album is her biggest hits.
