Max Cavalera has started a new super group, Killer Be Killed, featuring members of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Mastodon and The Mars Volta.
Their debut album is due for release in 2014, with group made up of ex-Sepultura and Soulfly vocalist/guitarist Max Cavalera, guitarist Greg Puciato from The Dillinger Escape Plan, bassist Troy Sanders of Mastodon and The Mars Volta’s David Elitch on drums.
So what can we expect of this new super group? According to guitarist, Greg Puciato, “It’s a bit of SABBATH-y doom, a bit of thrash, a bit of hardcore and punk.”
“The album is a mix of heavy, fast and melodic songs,” added Cavalera.
Interestingly, Cavalera isn’t the only one on vocal duties with Puciato and Sanders both contributing lead vocals and lyrics to the album.
“I love the idea of Greg, Troy and I singing together, with David Elitch’s amazing drumming,” Cavalera said. “Being a part of this is something quite different for me.”
Killer Be Killed have signed with Nuclear Blast Entertainment, a joint venture from ex-Roadrunner Record Senior Vice President of A&R, Monte Conner and Nuclear Blast Records founder, Markus Staiger.
Killer Be Killed’s yet-to-be-titled debut album was produced and mixed by Josh Wilbur (Lamb Of God, Steve Earle) and is set for release sometime in 2014. No official date has been announced.
