Bernard Sumner of New Order has suggested that the reunited group may go back to record.
The band reunited last year for a string of shows, including their forthcoming Australian dates on the Future Music Festival in March and a UK tour in April and May.
While they had a plan to release a collection of outtakes from their most recent 2005 album Waiting For The Siren’s Call last year, which has been delayed to this year, Sumner suggests that they might get back into the studio to create new music.
He said to XFM in the UK that they’re “Not even thinking about [writing and recording] at the moment because our heads are really on playing live. It really is one day at a time – or one year at a time – and this year is playing live.”
But straight after that he hedged his bets, saying “Let’s see [about working on new material]. Hopefully there’ll be some recorded music as well.”
New Order play the Future Music Festival, as well as Melbourne’s Festival Hall on March 1 and Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on March 7.
