Nick Cannon has slammed untrue reports about his marriage breakdown, insisting he loves Mariah Carey “unconditionally”.
The two stars have been married since 2008 and the parents of three-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe. Last month Nick has alleged to have confirmed he and Mariah had split, and although that seems to be the case he has now blasted much of the speculation surrounding the breakup.
“Because my family & I haven’t been forthcoming with personal information, people are quick to paint negative pictures and spread rumours,” he ranted on Twitter.
“For the record I NEVER have, nor will I make a statement regarding my marriage.
” What infuriates me most is to hear people slander @MariahCarey. I will forever be in debted to her for blessing me with our children…
“I will always love her unconditionally for this and so much more. @MariahCarey is an amazing Mother and I trust her wholeheartedly… (sic).”
The star also implored “civilised” people to respect what he and his family are going through at the moment.
There have been many reports about the state of the stars’ relationship, with some suggesting Nick was concerned about how Mariah was looking after their children. It seems like this is what has angered the comedian, with the star explaining he had wanted to remain silent on the topic but didn’t feel he could anymore because he was so angry.
He added that he “loves” Mariah and that is something that will “never change”.
Nick stated that while he is happy to be viewed as the “bad guy” in the situation, he doesn’t want any “innocent” parties being drawn into it. While it wasn’t clear who he was referring to, many outlets have linked him to model Jasmine Sanders – something which has never been confirmed.
“I apologize to anyone who’s gotten caught up in this unwarranted drama,” he wrote.
“BTW Shouts out to the so called “Sources”! I hope the check was worth it… (sic).”
News that Mariah and Nick had separated broke on August 21, with Nick said to have confirmed it to Yahoo’s The Insider. It was reported he had admitted living in separate houses and said there was “trouble in paradise”.
The 33-year-old star has now seemingly claimed he did now make the comments.
“Don’t worry about my life, worry about why you’re worried about my life!” he added.
“And finally, “Trouble in Paradise” is the dumbest phrase I’ve ever heard! I would never say that sh!t (sic).”
