Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Bob Evans are just two of the artists named for the Australian Music Prize longlist.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds ‘Push The Sky Away’ and Bob Evans ‘Familiar Stranger’ along with The Drones ‘I See Seaweed’, Abbe May ‘Kiss My Apocalypse’, Big Scary ‘Not Art’ and Dialextrix ‘The Cold Light of Day’ have been named for the 9th AMP.
Bob Evans said in a statement, “What a lovely surprise it is to be longlisted for The Coopers AMP! Being recognised by your peers for your contribution to the common good is always nice and this is certainly no exception as I am very familiar with what the Coopers AMP stands for. Cheers!”
Previous AMP winners were The Jezabels (2011), Cloud Control (2010), Lisa Mitchell (2009), Eddie Current Suppression Ring (2008), The Mess Hall (2007), Augie March (2006) and inaugural winners The Drones (2005).
The winner of the 9th annual Australian Music Prize will be announced in March 2014.
