Nicole Scherzinger has reportedly returned to the studio to record a new song with the band she almost joined – and the girl who took her place.
The former Pussycat Dolls star almost became will.i.am’s sidekick in Black Eyed Peas and when she stepped aside Fergie replaced her.
Now, over a decade after Nicole passed on the chance to record with the group, she has hit the studio with will.i.am and Fergie to record a new dancefloor filler, according to The Sun.
The trio has been spotted at Metropolis Studios in West London, where Nicole and Fergie are recording a duet during midnight sessions with will.i.am.
Black Eyed Peas bandmates apl.de.ap and Taboo have also been spotted at the studio, which is where Adele recorded her hit album 25.
A source tells The Sun, “Nicole met all four members and was laying down vocals until the early hours. She was singing about ‘feeling the fire’ and ‘wanting her way like a holiday’.”
All other details about the studio sessions are top secret.
Meanwhile, the Black Eyed Peas are regrouping after a lengthy hiatus, during which Fergie became a mum and recorded solo tracks, while will.i.am turned his skills to reality TV and became a talent show judge and mentor on The Voice in the U.K. and Australia.
The duo is putting the finishing touches to Fergie’s new solo album Double Dutchess, the follow-up to her hit 2006 album The Dutchess. She released her lead single from the project, M.I.L.F. $ in July.
