The campaign to get Nirvana ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ to number one in the UK failed to get the song into the Top 10.
‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ debuted at number 11 this week in England. The Facebook campaign was set-up to attempt to stop Simon Cowell’s X-Factor winners from having the number one Christmas song but as it turned out that one missed out too.
Number one went to the Military Wives Choir. Their song ‘Wherever You Are’ sold 556,000 copies in the UK last week and was the fastest selling single in six years.
X-Factor winners Little Mix came in second place with ‘Cannonball’, a Damien Rice cover.
