Noel Gallagher says he is “absolutely crestfallen” that he wasn’t worthy of having his phone hacked by News of the World.
In an interview with Details.com, Gallagher said “I was absolutely crestfallen when the phone-hacking scandal broke here in England and my name wasn’t mentioned once. I’m not even worth to have my fucking phone hacked. And Steve Coogan is. It’s fucking over.”
Gallagher’s new band the High Flying Birds has given him reason to be in the spotlight again, but it’s unlikely he’s worthy of the attention Oasis were given at the peak of their fame. He seems aware of this too.
“I never understood people who bitched about fame,” he explained. “Even in the nineties, when it was mad and there were photographers all around the house, it never occurred to me to send someone else out to get cigarettes. It took me five minutes, I went for a walk, gave a wave and went back inside.”
