Axl Rose to join AC/DC must be the strangest story doing the rounds today online, if not this year.
The good folk at Alternative Nation seem to be the original source of the silliest story around today. They not only take credit, but seem proud, for first reporting the possibility of Rose joining AC/DC to replace Brian Johnson.
The usually credible music site is crediting an Atlanta DJ Jason Bailey as saying “This is what I’m being told, Axl was meeting with the AC/DC group, because it’s all but a done deal that Axl will front AC/DC for the 10 remaining shows. All 10, including Atlanta.”
Well apart from the fact that Guns N Roses have pretty much 2016 and 2017 tied up for a world tour (including Australian dates to be announced shortly for 2017), the silliness of the idea beggars belief. Has Angus Young gone stark raving made?
Last week it emerged that Brian Johnson was dumped by the band without notice. That source came from Johnson’s friend comedian Jim Breuer who had met with Brian the day after the announcement that Brian was out of AC/DC, effective immediately.
For the record Breuer withdraw his comments the next day.
AC/DC has been slowing watering down. Not counting the departure of bass player Mark Evans from the classic 70s albums, and the death of Bon Scott, in just the past two years we have witnessed the ugly exit of impeccable AC/DC time-keeper drummer Phil Rudd, the band’s glue in rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young and the signature sound, the voice of the past 35 years Brian Johnson. Angus Young is the literally the last man standing. The question now remains, does one man make a band?
What do you think? Should Axl Rose replace Brian Johnson in AC/DC?
Take the Noise11 poll. Click ‘Dirty Deed’ for it’s a bad idea or ‘Let There Be Rock’ for “I like it”.
What do you think of @acdc replacing Brian Johnson with @axlrose ???
