Brit boyband One Direction spoke to Noise11 about their mammoth success and reveal their album release date.
Liam Payne, one-fifth of the incredibly popular X-Factor boyband One Direction, spoke to Noise11 about their instand success.
Their debut single What Makes You Beautiful, a reassurance to insecure teen girls everywhere, has hit 17 million hits on YouTube. Yes, 17 million.
Our interview took place a little over a week ago. It’s now up to 20.6 million. Yes, 20.6 million.
“Amazing,” Payne marvels at the figure, “You just can’t believe that sort of thing happens.”
So were you monitoring it, watching the numbers go stratospheric?
“The video kinda went up, ‘Your video’s now on YouTube’ and stuff,” he recalls, “It ran and we starting getting loads of views. Every day it was going up by, like, half a million or something like that. You can’t believe when you hear stats like that.”
“What happened in England, it ended up being the fastest week one selling single of the year. That sort of thing, for us… like I say we only ever just wanted to have a go at this when we were in the show. Now it’s a bit more real.”
There must be massive expectations for the second single ‘Gotta Be You’, which is out on November 13.
“Yeah, we’re really excited about it,” Payne admits, “Once again, it’s a little bit of a different song for us. I think with us we just want to keep doing things that people don’t expect. It’s a little bit different than the first one, a little slower, so we’ll just see what people think.”
People will also get to hear the whole debut album, Up All Night, on November 25. For now, check out our whole chat below.
