One Direction’s Zayn Malik has quit micro-blogging website twitter and his account is not longer available to view.
His account on the micro-blogging website had more than five million followers but he deleted it after becoming sick of people posting abusive messages.
The 19-year-old singer tweeted: “The reason i don’t tweet as much as i use to, is because I’m sick of all the useless opinions and hate that i get daily goodbye twitter :)
“My fans that have something nice to say can tweet me on the one direction account , :) x”
Shocked fans flooded him with messages trying to change his mind, with the topics Zayn, #ComeBackZayn and #ZaynComeBack all trending.
Now, when trying to access his @zaynmalik account, users can only view the message: “Sorry, that page doesn’t exist!”
The singer has been getting frustrated at people criticising his relationship with Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards, with some fans claiming the romance is fake.
Sources close to Zayn said: “They couldn’t be happier, it’s ridiculous that anyone thinks otherwise.
“When they’re together it’s like excited teenagers getting together for the first time.”
Perrie deleted her twitter account in May after apparently getting abuse herself.
Before that, Perrie was a regular user, and had used it to publicly communicate with Zayn.
