Tim Wright, an early bass player for new wave pioneers Pere Ubu, has been found dead.
Alan Schneider of Tim’s record label No More Records has confirmed to Noise11.com that the bass player died from cancer.
Wright was with Pere Ubu for a very short period, appearing on just two tracks of their debut album ‘The Modern Dance’. He played bass on the title track and ‘Sentimental Journey’ as well as contributing to production but left in 1978 before the second album to join DNA where he remained a member until they split in 1982.
Pere Ubu frontman David Thomas posted on this Facebook page, “Tim Wright died Sunday, August 4 2013, reports longtime partner Mary Ann Livchak. He was an original member of Pere Ubu and later a contributor to the No Wave scene of New York City”.
