Only four albums sold over one million units in the USA during 2016 with Adele ‘25’ the biggest seller.
According to BuzzAngleMusic.com Adele ‘25’ sold 1,550,584 copies followed by Drake ‘Views’ at 1,510,987, Beyonce ‘Lemonade’ at 1,477,080 and Chris Stapleton ‘Traveller’ with 1,016,644.
The death of Prince made his ‘The Very Best of Prince’ album soar with its 644,227 sales making it the eighth biggest seller of the year while ‘Purple Rain’ came in 18th with 407,701 sales.
‘Purple Rain’ even outsold David Bowie’s ‘Blackstar’. ‘Blackstar’ was at #21 for the year with 384,059 sales.
