Mary Wilson of The Supremes will perform dates in Australia in June.
Wilson was a founding member of the Motown hit group The Supremes with Diana Ross and Florence Ballard. She left the group in 1977.
The Supremes first cracked the US singles chart with ‘When Lovelight Starts Shining Through His Eyes’ in 1963 but it was ‘Where Did I Love Go’ the following year that gave them a US number one.
The follow-up to ‘Where Did Out Love Go’ was another classic ‘Baby Love’.
The hits continued with ‘Come See About Me’, ‘Stop In The Name of Love’, ‘Back In My Arms Again’, ‘Nothing But Heartaches’, ‘I Hear A Symphony’, ‘My World Is Empty Without You’, ‘Love Is Like An Itching In My Heart’, ‘You Can’t Hurry Love’, ‘You Keep Me Hanging On’, ‘Love Is Here And Now You’re Gone’, ‘The Happening’, ‘Reflections’, ‘In And Out of Love’, ‘Forever Came Today’, ‘Some Things You Never Get Used Too;, ‘Love Child’, ‘I’m Gonna Make You Love Me’, ‘I’m Living In Shame’, ‘I’ll Try Something New’, ‘The Composer’, ‘No Matter What Sign You Are’ and ‘Someday We’ll Be Together’, all Top 40 hits.
In the first two years of the 70s The Supremes would have another seven chart hits.
Mary Wilson has written two books about her experiences in The Supremes ‘Dreamgirl: My Life As A Supreme’ and ‘Faith: Someday We’ll Be Together’.
