Ozzy Osbourne Says TV Show Nearly Killed Him

Ozzy Osbourne felt “wiped out” after being on reality TV.

The 65-year-old rocker and his family – wife Sharon and youngest kids Jack and Kelly – were the stars of their own MTV show The Osbournes for three years until 2005. Fans watched the close knit relatives as they went about their everyday lives, with kooky antics such as terrorising their neighbours, though oldest daughter Aimee chose not to appear on the show.

Looking back at the period when he had cameras following him about, Ozzy is glad the filming came to an end.

“I didn’t give a sh*t. I just did what I do. Sharon would say, ”Do you want another season?” and I’d go along with it because they”re family,” he recalled to British magazine Time Out London. “But at the end of it, I was f**king wiped out, my whole family was disintegrating. My wife was in bed for nine months battling colon cancer, my kids were all in rehab, I was f**king dying. I just wanted to get my rock”n”roll life back.”

He also described the show as an “experiment” which made him feel like an “laboratory rat”.

Ozzy found fame as the frontman of hit rock band Black Sabbath, which he founded in Birmingham in 1969 along with current members Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi and former drummer Bill Ward. Last year the group released their nineteenth album, 13, and they are currently gearing up to end their Reunion Tour at London”s Hyde Park on July 4.

Addressing rumours that this may be the last time the iconic musicians gig together, Ozzy was quick to deny the reports.

“No. The rumours are all b*****t. It”s going to be the last show [of this tour], but now we”ve bonded again. We”ve left it open,” he explained. “We”ll have a few weeks off and think about what we want to do in the future. Because we”re all getting a bit older: we”re the best part of f**king 70 now.”
