Ozzy Osbourne isn’t mincing words over why drummer Bill Ward is not part of the Black Sabbath reunion.
Ward and the other members of Sabbath were originally said to be at odds over a suitable contract for the new album and the resulting tour. Osbourne, on the other hand, told the New York Daily News that he doesn’t really know what went wrong; however, “I don’t think he could have done the gig, to be honest. He’s incredibly overweight. A drummer has to be in shape. He’s already had two heart attacks. I don’t want to be responsible for his life.”
Ozzy did go on to say that “the door is always wide open” for Ward’s return. Brad Wilk of Rage Against the Machine played on the album, 13, while Tommy Clufetos has joined the band on the road.
Osbourne’s comments continue his position that he has held for some time. In the past, he talked of Ward needing post-it notes all over his drums to remember the songs.
