Gnathia marleyi is a tiny parasitic crustacean that feeds on fish in the Caribbean. Biologist Paul Sikkel of Arkansas State University said that the reefs in that area of the world are filled with various species of Gnatiha which are akin to ticks or mosquitoes on the land.

Sikkel said of his choice for the name “I named this species, which is truly a natural wonder, after Marley because of my respect and admiration for Marley’s music. Plus, this species is as uniquely Caribbean as Marley.”

Others who have had biological entities named after them include President Obama (lichen) and Elvis Presley (wasp).
