Passenger’s latest single ‘27’ is a collaboration with Australia’s Josh Pyke.
Mike Rosenberg, aka Passenger, stuck up a friendship with Pyke when he was busking across Australia. “I guess from busking and playing little gigs with people. I was lucky, Mike tells Noise11.com. “I knew Lior and I knew Josh Pyke. Those boys were really brilliant about introducing me to people. They are both cracking lads and I look forward to catching up with them”.
Rosenberg came to Australia as a backpacker and busker. Australia is now his second home. “I’d done a bit of busking in the UK and Europe and it started to get a bit cold up there so I thought where is the nice weather. Where will they embrace this kind of music and Australia seemed to be the obvious choice. The first time I went to Australia I thought I’d go for a few weeks and ended up staying for 6 months. I guess I have now spent in total 2 or 3 years in Australia,” he said.
The down under journey led to the creation of the Flight of the Crow album, featuring his own Australian supergroup. “I had been busking for six months. I met all of these wonderful people and I decided to put all of the money I had made from busking into this big collaboration CD. It was a cool thing to do. So Boy & Bear, Kate Miller-Heidke, Katie Noonan, yeah it was such an enjoyable process”.
