Paul Kelly Disbands The Merri Souls

Paul Kelly has disbanded The Merri Souls after less than 12 months.

Kelly put together The Merri Souls for one album and a few shows. The band started recording ‘The Meei Souls Sessions’ in the Melbourne suburb of Northcote in May, 2014.

The Merri Souls were:

Clairy Browne – lead vocals, backing vocals
Cameron Bruce – keyboards
Linda Bull – lead vocals, backing vocals
Vika Bull – lead vocals, backing vocals
Dan Kelly – guitar
Paul Kelly – rhythm guitar
Peter Luscombe – drums, percussion
Bill McDonald – bass guitar
Ashley Naylor – guitar
Kira Puru – lead vocals, backing vocals
Dan Sultan – lead vocals, backing vocals

In a statement at his Facebook page Kelly announced “Merri Souls all disbanded for now. ‘Twas a joy all the way. Hopefully we’ll get back together for some festivals in the Summer. Here’s Righteous Woman from last Sunday”. PK

The Merri Souls performed 18 shows. The final show was last Sunday April 12 in Auckland New Zealand.
