Paul McCartney’s appearance for James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke segment was simply the best piece of television ever made.
Try and not tear up when Sir Paul tells the story of his mother Mary coming to him in a dream with the message to let it be. It brought Corden to genuine tears, and the moment James tells Paul about his late grandfather is simply a beautiful human moment.
“Oh man, it got me emotional there,” Corden said. “I didn’t feel it coming.” You cannot fake that. It was real.
Corden filmed the Carpool Karaoke segment last week in Paul’s hometown Liverpool, UK. The pair visit Penny Lane, Paul’s old home, the barber shop in the song ‘Penny Lane’ and a Liverpool pub where the Beatles played in the early days (and Sir Paul and band gave an impromptu performance for the locals).
Television does not get any better than this.
