Paul McCartney has come down with a virus in Japan and has been forced to postpone his first show in Tokyo tonight.

McCartney hopes to reschedule the show for this Monday.

UPDATE: The show has been rescheduled for Monday, May 19

In a statement McCartney said, “Thank you for such a beautiful and warm welcome to your country. I’ve unfortunately had to postpone tonight’s show in Tokyo.

“I came down with a virus on Friday and following a visit from doctors, I’ve been told not to perform tonight.

“I am very sorry to all my fans as I was greatly looking forward to the concert, but the situation is out of my hands.

“Along with the doctors, I’m doing all I can to ensure I will be better for tomorrow night’s show and the rest of my time in Japan.

“We are planning to replay this show on Monday. I really hope you can make it.

Love,

Paul”

Paul McCartney revealed his new video for ‘Appreciate’ earlier today. It stars Newman the robot, built by the people who made the puppets for War Horse. Newman will appear with McCartney on the rest of the 2014 tour.

Paul McCartney May dates

May 21, Tokyo, Budokan
May 24, Osaka, Yanmar Stadium Nagai
May 28, Seoul, Jamsil Sports Complex Stadium

Love,

Paul

Paul McCartney’s Give My Regards To Broad Street Turns 40

Paul McCartney’s 1984 movie ‘Give My Regards To Broad Street’ was universally panned in its day. The production, 100% funded by Paul, became a money pit. It lost him millions, had hideous reviews and now both the movie and soundtrack album have been long out of print. But was it that bad? Actually no. I thought it was much better than The Beatles ‘Magical Mystery Tour’.

Eighty two. Paul McCartney is 82. (Well, I guess it makes a change to referring to the good Sir as an ex-Beatle). Now, where was I? Oh yes, in Santiago, Chile, at the Estadio Monumental, watching this magnificent human perform to and thrill thousands of people. It is always heartwarming to see multi generations singing along to all the songs at a Paul McCartney show. More impressively here, because most people speak only Spanish.
