Sir Paul went to pay his respects to Whitney Houston yesterday. The Beatles star and his wife Nancy Shevell were seen outside the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles where the 48-year-old singer died on Saturday.

Dressed casually in sweatpants and a sports jacket, the British singer put a bouquet of yellow roses at the scene where fans have made a makeshift memorial for the Bodyguard star.

TMZ reports that when fans tried to compliment Paul on his Grammy Awards performance on Sunday he brushed them off and wanted to keep the focus on the fallen singer.

‘This is about Whitney, not me,’ Paul told them.

Meanwhile Jennifer Hudson, who did a stirring rendition of Whitney’s classic hit I Will Always Love You at the Grammys, said that she was overcome with grief at the loss of her idol.

‘It was the greatest honour of my life to be able to be the one to pay tribute to Whitney’s memory,’ the 30-year-old said.

‘It was from my heart. I haven’t stopped crying since she passed. Her family is in my prayers.’

It is reported that Whitney’s last meal was burger and fries and there was an empty champagne glass and a beer can in her room. The trouble star had also ordered a turkey sandwich and jalapeƱos for after she finished her bath.

Sadly, it was in the bathtub that her unresponsive body was found and later pronounced dead.

TMZ has reported that a number of prescription pills were found in Whitney’s hotel room including painkillers, anti-anxiety medication and several other pills.

But the site claims that some of the medications had been filled at Mickey Fine pharmacy which is the same establishment that was raided by the DEA in 2009 for evidence of ‘improper dispensing of controlled substances’ during the investigation into the death of Michael Jackson.

Whitney is survived by her 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina and mother Cissy Houston.

Her body has been flown back to her native New Jersey where she will be laid to rest at a funeral schedule for this weekend, according to reports.

The Los Angeles Coroner said the exact cause of Whitney’s death will not be known until the toxicology results come back in four to six weeks.
