Paul McCartney says he was a fan of Happy Days and that helped Ron Howard get the job as director for the movie ‘The Beatles: Eight Days A Week – The Touring Years’.

‘I liked Ron Howard as Richie in Happy Days,” told said in a Q&A with fans from Abbey Road.

Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and Ron Howard all took questions from fans around the world about the movie ‘The Beatles: Eight Days A Week – The Touring Years’.

In the Q&A Paul said back then “we just did it. We were just guys in band”. Then he added, “Now I have to pinch myself and say ‘I was in The Beatles.”

Ron Howard identified with The Beatles because he went through a similar thing on television as the star of ‘Happy Days’, at the time the number one show in the world. “There was a little moment with Henry Winkler as The Fonz, we would go and do these public appearances and there would be 10,000 people. We’d jump in the car and it would be shaking. Once they grabbed my hat. I didn’t like it even when I had hair. That probably happened three times. For these guys, it probably happened 3000 times.”

The original song title ‘Eight Days A Week’ came from Paul’s chauffeur. Paul recalled being driving to John’s one night and asked the driver if he had been working hard. “Eight days a week,” he replied. “So I went into John’s and said ‘got the title’ and we wrote it”.
