Paul McCartney’s son, James, likes the idea of a new generation Beatles group with the sons of Ringo, George and John.
James McCartney has long been involved with music, performing on two of his father’s album and getting Sir Paul to produce his two EPs.
On the eve of performing at Liverpool’s Cavern Club, where the Beatles got their start, James spoke to the BBC. He was asked whether he’s be interested in being part of a Beatles: The Next Generation-type band with Sean Lennon, Dhani Harrison and Zak Starkey.
While James said that he suspects Zak wouldn’t be into the idea, he suggested another drumming son of Ringo – Jason.
He said, “Maybe Jason would want to do it. I’d be up for it. Sean seemed to be into it, Dhani seemed to be into it. I’d be happy to do it.”James confirmed that the idea had been mooted “a little bit” and hopes that it does come together “hopefully, naturally”.
He concluded, “I don’t know, you’d have to wait and see. The will of God, nature’s support, I guess. So yeah, maybe.”
