Pop veteran Paula Abdul is heading out on her first tour in over two decades with New Kids on the Block and Boyz II Men.
Paul Abdul returned to the stage in August for her first full concert set in years as part of New Kids on the Block’s 2016 Mixtape Festival in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Boyz II Men were also on the bill for the event, and now all three artists are preparing to hit the road for The Total Package Tour, which will kick off in May in Columbus, Ohio.
The stars announced the news during an appearance on U.S. breakfast show Today on Tuesday.
“Boyz II Men, they’re friends,” New Kids star Donnie Wahlberg explained as he was asked how the trek came together. “I think Paula and I bumped into each other at the (2015) AMAs (American Music Awards) and she started saying she wanted to go on the road again.
“She did our Mixtape Festival with Boyz II Men and us, and it was the biggest festival we’ve done since its inception, and we owe a lot of that to those guys, so we decided, ‘Let’s go on the road together.'”
Boyz II Men’s Nathan Morris promises fans the tour will be “a lot of fun and energy”, and reveals they have been “trying to make it happen” with the Step by Step stars for a couple of years.
“Now we’ve got extra firepower,” he said of Abdul’s addition to the line up.
And Abdul added, “(It’s) incredible. I’m gonna be envied by many!”
Her last solo trek, the Under My Spell Tour, wrapped in 1992.
Paula has only performed short one-off sets for fans in recent years, including a rendition of I’m Just Here for the Music on American Idol in 2009, and a medley of her hits for Dancing With the Stars in 2012.
