The Bodyguard star and former Australian Idol finalists Paulini Curuenavuli has avoided time in prison for bribing a government official. Instead she has been sentenced to a six-moth suspension.
Paulini was found guilty of bribing a government official to get an unrestricted NSW drivers licence.
The singer found herself on the wrong side of the law when she clocked up a number of offences while on her learners permit in 2016. With the bad marks against her name she contacted a corrupt government officer and paid $850 him for the licence without having to go through the test.
The judge found that Paulini had already gone through an amount of rehabilitation that suggested she was sorry for what she did. The crime can carry a penalty of up to seven years in jail.
