Roger Daltrey has added a Perth date for his upcoming Australian tour.
Roger will perform The Who’s classic rock opera Tommy at the Riverside Theatre in Perth on Thursday, April 19 presented by Chugg Entertainment and Noise11.com.
At the show Roger will perform ‘Tommy’ from start to finish.
‘Tommy’ was The Who’s fourth album, released in May 1969. Written by Pete Townshend, it was the first ever rock opera.
‘Tommy’ tells the story of a deaf, dumb and blind boy who overcomes his handicaps to become the Pinball Wizard.
The first ever stage production of the work was done by the Seattle Opera in 1971. In 1972, Lou Reizner recreated a concert version backed by the London Symphony Orchestra with an ensemble featuring Rod Stewart, Steve Winwood and Ringo Starr. In 1975, director Ken Russell made the movie of the rock opera, featuring Tina Turner, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Jack Nicholson and Roger Daltrey.
