PETA Wacker Request Hunters & Collectors Change Their Name

by Paul Cashmere on March 2, 2017

The PETA wackers are out to save the quackers with one of their most bizarre requests to date … they want Hunters & Collectors to change their name.

Ashley Fruno, Associate Director of the Campaign for PETA, published an open letter to Hunters & Collectors at their Australian website.

The letter, addressed to Mark, John, Doug, Jack, Rob, Barry and Michael from the band, asks the iconic Australian band “Would you consider changing the name of your band to discourage people from hunting animals?”.

Then in an even more bizarre, let alone unsubstantiated statement, PETA wrote, “We feel sure that it was never your intention to promote the killing of intelligent, sensitive, and defenceless animals, but your name nevertheless make hunting seem appealing to your fans”.

It would be fascinating to know exactly how many birds and animals Fruno imagines have been slaughtered by bloodthirsty Hunters & Collectors fans.

Fruno then gets even more idiotic writing, “Nearly 300,000 Australian waterbirds face an agonising death during hunting season … and is already underway in South Australia. As your Adelaide reunion show is coming up, now is the perfect time for a band facelift. Might you consider ‘Hunters & Collectors of Antiques’, ‘Hunters & Collectors of Vinyl Records’, or even ‘Hunters & Collectors of Beer Cans’ as possible replacements?’.

Fruno has not helped the PETA cause. The statement was stupid and made PETA look ridiculous.

Hunters & Collectors will perform at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide on Saturday March 4 with Baby Animals. Baby Animals? Oh no, there’s another band in dire need of a name change. Maybe Baby Squash would be more appropriate.
