Pete Townshend is bringing his Classic Quadrophenia to the U.S. in September for four performances.
Townshend took the Who’s classic rock opera and arranged it for a full orchestra back in 2015, bringing in Billy Idol and opera singer Alfie Boe for a live performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Now, Townshend, Idol and Boe will recreate the excitement of that performance in four shows, including two at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Robert Ziegler will conduct the New York and Los Angeles shows. The Boston date will be conducted by Keith Lockhart with the Boston Pops Orchestra.
Townshend said “I’m thrilled to be bringing Classic Quadrophenia stateside through the month of September. Melding the contrasting sounds of Quadrophenia with a symphony has been a really unique and powerful way to reach a wide audience of classical and pop music lovers alike. I couldn’t be more excited to see it continue in the U.S.”
