Family Guy has returned for an 18th season with the revelation … Bob Welch is dead.
It episode one of season 18 of Family Guy titled ‘Yacht Rocky’ the Griffins go on a Yacht Rock cruise. The cruise features guest spots from Kenny Loggins and Alan Parsons. On board Peter Griffin asks “if singer and songwriter Bob Welch is on board yet” only to be told “he is not, because he died in 2012”.
Bob Welch was a member of Fleetwood Mac from 1971-1974. He left and formed Paris before going solo and releasing his solo album ‘French Kiss’ which contained the remake of the song he wrote and originally recorded with Fleetwood Mac ‘Sentimental Lady’.
Alan Parsons who worked as an engineer on both Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ and The Beatles ‘Abbey Road’ before forming his own Alan Parson Project is on deck for a game with Peter but Peter only wants Alan Parsons, not the Project.
Peter challengers Alan to a game of ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors’-like game called ‘Crsoby, Stills, Nash’ where Crosby eats Nash, Stills snorts Crosby, Nash smokes still.
Then wheelchair-bound Joe Swanson confronts Kenny Loggins. “So Kenny, Footloose. Not really a song for everyone”, he says. Kenny responds, “maybe you’d prefer my song in Caddyshack ‘I’m Alright’”. Joe “What, do you think I’m stupid because I’m in a chair. Pull the tape guy, the gopher sang that song”.
‘Yacht Rocky’ was Alan Parsons first appearance in ‘Family Guy’. Kenny Loggins also appeared in the ‘Veteran Guy’ episode of 2018. His songs have be used in Family Guy episodes ‘Stewie Loves Lois’ (2006), ‘Meet The Quagmires’ (2007), ‘Peter Chris & Brian’ (2015) and ‘Veteran Guy’ (2018).
