Bluesfest director Peter Noble has announced the inaugural Boomerang Festival for October on the Bluesfest site.
Cultural creative Rhoda Roberts, a Bundjalung woman, is Festival Director & Curator. The multi-arts event is a first of its kind.
“This is a special moment for me personally, and for us all – hosting a significant cultural event on the Bluesfest site which is actually Bundjalung country not only makes sense, but makes me proud. Through the healing of music, the rhythm of language and the power of dance, it’s time to have fun and gather as we recognsie the similarites we all share,” sais Peter Noble in a statement.
“Language is has been said is the light of the mind, combine that with the revitalisation and the return of some ancient traditions and practices from an eclectic line up of artists and you have a unique festival experience”, says Rhoda Roberts.
To celebrate this new cultural event a showcase performance was held on Bundjalung land
inside The Lotus Palace featuring Christina Anu, Leah Flanaghan, Thelma Plum, international
Didjeridu performer Tjupurru and WANTOK hit Arileke who sung the Boomerang Festival to
life.
Boomerang 2013 will take place on October 4th – 6th 2013 at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm
