Phil Rudd of AC/DC Pleads Guilty To Attempted Murder Charge

by Paul Cashmere on April 21, 2015

in News

AC/DC’s wayward drummer Phil Rudd has pleaded guilty to charges of attempted murder and drugs in a New Zealand court today.

Rudd had initially denied the charges but in a surprise turn around made the guilty plea on his first day in court today in Tauranga District Court.

Rudd was charged in September with threatening to procure a murder. He was also charged with possession of cannabis and methamphetamines in November.

Rudd performed on AC/DC’s most recent album ‘Rock Or Bust’ but due to the charges was unable to leave New Zealand to perform with the band at The Grammy Awards or on the 2015 Rock Or Bust world tour.

AC/DC did the first shows for the tour at the Coachella music festival in California over the past two weeks. Rudd has been replaced in AC/DC by Chris Slade, who was also his replacement when he departed the band in the 80s for a decade.

Rudd released his first solo album ‘Head Job’ in September 2014.

Rudd was in court for 10 minutes today before the judge adjourned for sentencing on June 26.
