One of Melbourne’s best known photographers Kane Hibberd is about to release a collection of his Soundwave Festival photography.
The book is Hibberd’s first and is completely self-funded and self-published. It will be 450 pages long and will contain over 600 photographs of artists and fans and will feature commentary from artists and crew.
“From the moment I was asked to jump on board the Soundwave machine, my goal was to, one day, produce a coffee table style photography book,” Hibberd said. ” I grew up watching Tony Mott create a legacy with the Big Day Out and now this is hopefully the start of my own legacy. I’ve tried to create book full of imagery that can escape the shadow of its famous inhabitants and stand alone as beautiful pieces of artwork. Hopefully the book will appeal to not only music fans, but also fans of photography.”
The first 2000 copies of the book will be hand numbered by Kanye, who is probably sitting at home with a big pile of them right now wondering if he could tell people that he accidentally added a extra “0” to the end of that figure so he could stop at 200 and working up some RSI in his writing hand. If you don’t want him to suffer for nothing, then I suggest you head on over to his site and preorder yourself a copy. You can do so at www.kanyelens.com. It’ll ship in February 2013 and you will even get an extra print of one of the artists.
